Perforated acoustic panels are generally made out of different types of wood veneers, making them a great option if you want sustainable products in your sound control efforts.
Sometimes, you don’t want your panels to drastically change the aesthetics of your indoor space, and that is when micro-perforated acoustic panels are a great option.
Micro-perforated acoustic panels typically have perforations that are 0.5mm to 0.7mm wide. These tiny perforations are usually numerous to achieve the sound control you want – up to 90,000 tiny holes per m2.. Even though they aren’t that noticeable from a normal viewing distance, they have a significant and profound effect on how soundwaves behave when they reach the surface of the panel. When soundwaves hit a flat, nonporous wall, much of the sound wave is reflected, amplifying the sound and creating an echo effect. Micro-perforated acoustic panels allow this sound to be absorbed and dissipated, especially when they have acoustic fabric installed on the back of the paneling.
We specialize in all types of perforating, including the micro-perforation of acoustic panels to be used in all sorts of different applications. As we are custom designing plans for your micro-perforated acoustic panels, we will want to know as much as possible about why you need holes in the materials and how the final products will be used. This helps us think about the proper size and pattern needed for your perforating.
